Wallace Fard Muhammad

Wallace D. Fard also known as Wallace Fard Muhammad was the founder of the Nation of Islam. He arrived in Detroit in 1930 with an obscure background and several aliases, and taught a form of Islam, members of the urban black population. In 1934 he disappeared from the public record, and Elijah Muhammads successor as Leader of the Nation of Islam.

1. Beynons account of Fard and his followers. (Beynons счет Фард и его последователей)

In 1938, sociologist Erdmann Doane Beynon, published in the American journal of sociology report first hand on several interviews that he conducted with followers of Fard in Michigan. From those interviews, Beynon wrote that Fard lived and taught in Detroit from 1930 to 1934. He came to the house of black families who recently moved to Detroit from the rural South. He began selling silks door to door, telling his listeners that the silks came from their home country. At his suggestion, he came back to teach the residents, along with guests.

At an early stage of his Ministry, Fard "to use the Bible as a textbook it because it was the only religious book with which the majority of his listeners were familiar. With growing prestige over a constantly increasing group, became bolder in his denunciation of the Caucasians and began to attack the teachings of the Bible in such a way as to shock his hearers and bring them to an emotional crisis."

Beynons interlocutors told him that the reports of the Fards of the message spread throughout the black community. Attendance at the meetings of the house grew until the listeners were divided into groups and taught in shifts. Finally, the community gave money and rented a hall to serve as a temple where meetings were held. The Quran was soon introduced as the most authoritative of all texts for the study of faith. Fard prepared texts which served as authoritative manuals of the faith and were memorized verbatim by his followers.

Beynon described disputes and tension that arose between the new community and the police because of the refusal of the group to send their children to public schools. Some of the group allegedly participated in "human sacrifice" in 1932 in the effort to follow lessons regarding the sacrifice of devils. These incidents attracted the attention of police, according to Beynon, and contributed to persecutions and schisms. The FBI reports refer to the suspect Japanese intelligence one cause for alarm. He had connections with suspected Japanese agents of major Satochasi Takahashi and Fard said the head of the Japanese army in 1942, apparently, a reference to his sayings in the temple, that the Japanese had "the wheel of Ezekiel U. F. O." and waited for his team to win over us, a feat he claimed they could run for 6 hours, but the investigation later ruled out a Pro-Japanese influence to 1943.

Fard named his community "the Nation of Islam". After rapid growth in membership, it has established a formal organizational structure. He founded the University of Islam, where school age children were enrolled, not in public schools. He created the Muslim girls training and General civilization class, where women were taught how to keep their houses clean and to cook. The members of the organization were drilled by captains and referred to as the fruit of Islam. The whole mechanism was placed under a Minister of Islam.

According to Beynon, Fards followers grew to approximately eight thousand. "For three years the prophet not only began the movement but organized it so that he could recede into the background, appearing almost never to his followers during the last months of his stay in Detroit."

From interviews with about 200 families who followed Fard, Beynon concluded:

Although the prophet lived in Detroit from July 4, 1930 until June 30, 1934, virtually nothing is known about him, except that he "came East" and that he "called" the Negroes of North America to enter the nation of Islam. His very name is unknown. He was known as Mr. Wali Farrad or Mr. W. D. Fard, though he used also the following names: Professor Ford, Mr. Farrad Mohammed, F. Mohammed Ali. One of the few survivors who heard his first addresses States that he himself said, "My name is W. D. Fard and I came from the Holy city of Mecca. More about myself I will not tell you yet, because it is not yet time. I am your brother. You havent seen me in my Royal mantle". Legends soon sprang up about this mysterious personality.

Fard used the name W. F. Muhammad on several lessons written in 1933 and 1934. In 1933, he began signing his name W. F. Muhammad, which means Wallace Fard Muhammad.

2. Efforts to trace the history of Fard on. (Попытки проследить историю Фард на)

Declassified Federal Bureau of investigation FBI Memorandum of may 16, 1957, reads as follows: "From a review of instant file it does not appear that there is a concerted effort to locate and fully identify W. D. Fard. In as Elijah Muhammad recognizes W. D. Fard is Allah as a God and claims that Fard is the source of all his teachings, it is assumed that an exhaustive effort to fully identify and locate W. D. Fard and / or members of his family." The FBI took note of the articles Erdmann Doane Beynon, and it conducted a search for Fard using various aliases, including the name "Ford".

The search produced two fords of interest, one of which was Wallace Ford, famous movie actor. The other was wallie D. Ford, of California was arrested in Los Angeles police on 17 November 1918 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, again on January 20, 1926 for violation of California Woolwine possession to act and February 15, 1926 for violation of the state poison act for which he was sentenced to six months to six years in San Quentin state prison on June 12, 1926. According to the San Quentin record, Dr. Wally Ford was born in Portland, Oregon 25 Feb 1891, whites son Zared and Beatrice Ford, who were born in Hawaii.

On October 17, 1957 the FBI located and interviewed hazel Barton-Ford, wallie Fords civil wife, with whom he had a son named Wallace Dodd Ford, born September 1, 1920. Barton-Ford gave a description of wallie Ford, and described him as a Caucasian new Zealander. Search Director for Fard was officially closed one year on 15 April 1958. Migration does not match any of its aliases. His true identity remains unknown.

On August 15, 1959, the FBI sent a story to the Chicago New Crusader newspaper stating that Fard was a "Turkish-born Nazi agent who worked for Hitler during the Second world war. "The story of the FBI, Fard was a "Muslim from Turkey who arrived in the United States in the early 1900s. He met Muhammad in prison. where the two men of conspiracy, the game is on trust in which followers were charged of a fee to become Muslims." After the story was published, Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X later charged black media that reprinted the accusation in large numbers, running the game without a prompt response from the Nation of Islam.

A February 19, 1963 FBI Memorandum States: "in connection with efforts to disrupt and curb growth of the Noi, extensive research has taken place in different files, contained in this post. Among the cases that Wallace Dodd Ford." Five months later, in July 1963, the FBI told the Los Angeles evening Herald-Examiner, that Fard was really Wallace Dodd Ford. The newspaper published the story in the article entitled "Black Muslim founder exposed as White." In the FBI memo from August 1963 States that the FBI has not been able to verify his birth date or place of birth, and "he was last heard from in 1934".

2.1. Efforts to trace the history of Fard on. The story of the chroniclers of Fards FBI file. (История хронистов файл Фард ФБР)

Karl Evanzz of the Washington Post submitted a freedom of information act request to the FBI in 1978 requesting its file on Fard. Evanzz based his account of the Fards of life on the part of the declassified FBI file, which he received about a decade after his request. Evanzz full experience of several other authors who based their accounts Fards life for the FBI.

FBI response to the law On freedom of information request, Evanzz claimed that Fard, using the name Fred Dodd, married pearl Allen in Multnomah County, Oregon, on may 9, 1914 with their first child, a son, was born the following year.

Dodd left his family in 1916 and moved to Los Angeles using the name wallie Dodd Ford. The first world war draft registration card for Wallace Dodd Fard in 1917 indicated that he lives in Los Angeles, unmarried, as a restaurant owner, and reported that he was born in Shinka, Afghanistan on February 26, 1893. He was described as medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair. On the draft Card, "Ford" is written in brackets. No reason is given. At the bottom of the card, he signed his name as "wallie Dodd Ford."

In 1920, Ford was still living in Los Angeles, as 26 year-old wallie D. Ford, with his 25-year-old wife, hazel. In the 1920 U.S. census his race was reported as white, his occupation as restaurant owner, and his place of birth in New Zealand. He provided no known place of birth of his parents, nor his date of immigration.

A marriage certificate dated June 5, 1924, was issued to wallie Dodd Ford and Carmen Trevino in orange County, California. Ford said that he was a cook, Age 26, born in Oregon, but lives in Los Angeles.

2.2. Efforts to trace the history of Fard on. Moorish science temple of America. (Мавританский научный храм Америки)

In addition to claiming that Fard was Ford, Evanzz also claimed that Fard was once a member of the Moorish science temple of America, citing as primary source edition, 1945 Bontant Arna and Jack Conroy titled They seek in the city. The authors also pointed out by E. U. Essien-udom also in favor of this assumption. In his book 1962 black nationalism: a search for identity, Essien-udom wrote:

Noble drew Ali was shot and stabbed in his office at the unity club in Chicago on the night of March 15, 1929. in the end, he was released on bail, but a few weeks later he died under mysterious circumstances. Some people claim that he died from injuries inflicted by the police when he was in prison. Others, however, suggest that he was killed."

Beynon also noted: "the message of the prophet is characterized by the ability to use in full extent among his followers. Their physical and economic difficulties were used to illustrate a new doctrine. Similarly, biblical prophecies and the teachings of Marcus Garvey and noble drew Ali were cited as predictions of the coming of a new prophet".

3. Relationship with Elijah Muhammad. (Отношения с Элайджа Мухаммад)

In connection with Elijah Muhammad, articles Beynons said: "among a large group of Muslims there in the last time there was even more militant branch than the nation of Islam. This new movement, known as the Temple of the people, identificeret of the prophet, Mr. W. D. Fard, with the God Allah. Only Mr. Fard they offer prayers and sacrifices. Since Mr. Fard was deified in the temple of people to raise to the rank of prophet the former Minister of Islam, Elijah Mohammed, now a resident of Chicago. He always referred to respectfully as the prophet Elijah in Chicago.

Elijah Muhammad, who led the nation of Islam from 1934 to 1975, heard Fard learning for the first time in 1931. Elijah Muhammad stated that he and Fard became inseparable between 1931 and 1934, where he felt "almost in prison" because of the amount of time that they spent together with Fard teaching him day and night.

Handwritten lesson written by Fard States:

Twelve leaders of Islam from all corners of the planet laid to the root of civilization concerning the lost-found "Nation of Islam" – must return to their ancestral lands. One of the participants of the conference in the name of Mr. Osman Sharrieff said to the eleven members of the Conference: "lost-found" Nation of Islam will not return to their ancestral lands if they, firstly, have a clear idea of their own." So they sent a messenger to them their own. Now, the messenger and his workers worked day and night for the last three and a half years, and their accomplishments are approximately twenty-five thousand.

In this lesson, Fard places the number of converts obtained in Detroit at twenty-five thousand, and he describes a "Messenger" sent to "lost-found Islam" which is "his people". The nation of Islam theology States that this "messenger" is Elijah Muhammad.

Fard wrote, in his instructions to the leaders of their community that they should "copy the answers of lesson of Minister Elijah Muhammad." He further stated: "Why is stress made to the Muslims to copy, the Minister, Elijah Muhammads answers? Past history shows that the Almighty Allah sends to guide people and examples of the prophets and apostles, and through them his mystery was revealed. And those who follow the Apostle would see the light."

Fard wrote several lessons which are read and committed to memory by members of the Nation of Islam. Some lessons are presented in the form of questions asked by Fard to Elijah Muhammad. One such lesson concludes with the text: "this Lesson No. 2 was given by our Prophet, W. D. Fard which contains 40 questions, the answers to which Elijah Muhammad, one of the victims found in the wilderness of North America February 20th, 1934."

4. Ideology. (Идеология)

Beynon describes the contents Fards learning in the following way:

Black people in North America are not Negroes, but members of the lost tribe of Shabazz, stolen by traders from the Holy city of Mecca 379 years ago. The prophet came to America to find and bring back to life his long lost brethren, from whom the Caucasians had taken away their language, their nation and their religion. Here in America, they live other than themselves. They must understand that they are the original man, the noblest of the peoples of the Earth. Caucasians people of color, as they have lost their original color. First, a person must get his religion, which is Islam, their language, which is Arabic, and their culture, which is astronomy and higher mathematics, especially in algebra. They must live according to the laws of Allah, avoiding all meat "poisoning of animals", pigs, ducks, geese, possums and catfish. They should completely abandon the use of stimulants, especially alcohol. They should be cleaned as their bodies and their homes. If they obeyed God, he will take them back to the Paradise from which they were stolen – in the Holy city of Mecca.

Lessons Fards actually argue that the "trader" referenced by Beynon, came to Africa, not Mecca.

The modern nation of Islam theology is based on the belief that Fards teaching of Elijah Muhammad was fulfillment of Scripture about gods doctrine of the Apostle, where Fard is described as "God in man", "Messiah" and "Mahdi". Fard wrote to his followers:

it is the lessons that our Savior, God has given us to study and learn is the fulfillment of the prophecies of all the former prophets about the beginning of hell, and the end of civilization, and of our enslavement by the devils, and present time delivery from demons in our Saviour Allah. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME! There is no God except Allah. How that Allah would separate us from demons, and then destroy them, and to change us into a new and Perfect Man, and replenish the earth, freedom, justice and equality as it was filled with wickedness, and do we, the poor Lost-Found the perfect rulers.

In the 1965 book message to the Blackman in America, which is a collection of articles written by Elijah Muhammad in various Newspapers in the beginning of his Ministry, he summarized what Fard taught him as follows:

He began teaching us the knowledge about ourselves, about God and the devil, from the measurement of the earth, other planets and civilizations on some planets other than Earth. He measured and weighed the earth and its waters, the story of the moon, the history of the two peoples, black and white, which prevail on earth. He gave the exact birth of the white race, the name of their God who made them and how, and at the end of their time, the decision is how it will begin and end. He told us the truth about how we were "slaves" and how we are kept in slavery "slave-masters" children. He declared the doom of America for her evils to us was past due. And that she is number one must be destroyed. Her decision may not happen until we hear the truth. He said that we were without knowledge of self or anyone else. We were blind, deaf and dumb by this white race of people, and how we must return to our people, our God and his peaceful religion Islam, the religion of the prophets. We must reject slave names of our slave masters, and confirm the name of Allah, God or one of his divine qualities. He also taught us to renounce all evil deeds and practice and do righteousness or be destroyed from the face of the earth. He taught us that the slave masters taught us to eat the wrong food and that it is the cause of our sickness and short life span. He stated that he will heal us and bring us to heaven at once, if we yield to him. Otherwise he will punish us with a severe chastisement until we did. And he was able to get the whole world to bend to His will. He said that he loved us so called blacks, lost and found, so well that he eat rattlesnakes to free us if necessary, because he has power over all things.
